Parish Pastoral Assembly – 20th October 2019

Last Sunday, the Cathedral of St John the Evangelist had our Parish Pastoral Assembly (PPA) for the year 2019 with about 84 participants. Also in attendance were His Grace, Archbishop Julian Leow, Monsignor Mitchell, Monsignor Leonard & Father Biju.

We began with an opening prayer and a welcoming speech by Maria Yan.

Then we cut straight to the heart of the matter….presentation of the clusters. As the focus of the Cathedral for 2019 was on the BEC, Family Life & the Youth, these 3 major clusters were invited to present their findings and challenges in the past year for all of us to learn, discern and grow.

All participants were then divided into 12 groups to discuss on areas of concern. Truly the Holy Spirit was present and guided the discussions. Out of the various areas of concern, only 2 seemed to be selected by each of the groups which were Unity & Relationship.

As each group sent forth their representative to share their discussions, it could be seen and heard that many of the sharings boiled down to the same concerns. Praise the Lord that although Unity may have been the topic of choice, many of us were united in Spirit to proclaim the message the Lord meant for all of us to hear.

Monsignor Mitchell summed up the discussion well and when His Grace Archbishop Julian Leow was called upon to say a few words, to our utmost delight, His Grace had words of praise and affirmation for all of us.

We drew to an end at just about 5 pm and those who lingered behind continued with fellowship over the remainder of teas and snacks that were served.
