St Paul said this in Ephesians 1:16-17: I have not stopped giving thanks to God for you. I remember you in my prayers and ask the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, to give you the Spirit, who will make you wise and reveal God to you, so that you will know him.
And St Paul said again in Colossians 4:2 Be persistent in prayer, and keep alert as you pray, giving thanks to God.
Both the books, i.e. Ephesians and Colossians were written when St Paul was in prison in Rome. How can one thank you God so much when you are in prison? The “Dialogue” in our February reflection tell us of Julie’s frustration and she asked God “WHY ME? ” Just like Julie, I am sure many of us including me have such life-threatening experience and we also asked WHY ME?
Isn’t it normal for us to doubt God when we are in trouble.?
Is our God testing our faith?
Can he change the outcome of our troubling situation?
Can we be like St Paul and keep thanking God?
And then we found our answers in our Reflection paper in “Discernment” from Mt 9:35 – Jesus went around and proclaiming the good news and curing people! Does this make sense of it all? It was indeed an interesting evening for all those present.
And our evening fellowship was indeed a yummy one, as Renie had prepared her famous Assam Laksa and most crackling roast pork for the evening. We had a wonderful banquet of food to share as our Lord always provides!
In the same evening, I voiced my concern over the status of our BEC. I really cannot carry on holding the fort of our BEC alone. In one of my email, I had decided to pass on some work to some of our members. The main concern was our Home Mass. Both Cheryl and Monica were present and they had unanimously agreed to seek our Priest for a suitable date. Whatever dates given, I appeal to you all to support the decision made by both of them.
I also had a rewarding conversation with Renie, our Host for the evening and she too mentioned that her school has a regular Outreach program. In view of her busy schedule, she will try to look into the matter. If anything comes up, I would also like to appeal to you all to support her.
In the meantime, Renie did ask whether anyone can support her immediate Outreach program by providing some of the following:-
1. Used or new items of clothing for men
2. Toiletries for homeless on the streets
Please look into your cupboards and see if there is anything you have not used and can be of good use to someone else. The items are for those homeless men on the streets in our city. Only the above items are needed. If you have, please send to her home [92A, Road 2, Sri Hartamas] on or before 9th March 2018.
Till we meet again on Wednesday, March 21st, 2018. And I am looking for a Host. If you can open your home, please let me know.
