St Michael’s BEC Coordinated Mass – 29th September 2019

Our patron saint – St Michael the Archangel’s Feast Day falls on September 29. This year, we were blessed to have the feast day fall on a Sunday.

In commemoration of the feast of of St Michael the Archangel, our BEC members obliged to come together and co-ordinate the celebration of the 7:30am mass at the Cathedral of St John’s. We were eager to participate as a way of giving thanks to God for the gifts of the Archangel in our lives, and especially for the protection and faithful watch of St Michael.

Our members volunteered to do the first and second readings, commentate and carry the offering of bread and wine. Many more attended the mass to support the BEC and parish. We are so grateful to the Liturgical team of our parish for helping us prepare the day before. Their dedication is truly admirable.

After mass, we walked to a nearby restaurant where we dined together over a delicious Indian breakfast. It was a wonderful time of fellowship, with members getting to know each other better and exchanging life updates. As one member put it, ‘The fellowship with our fellow BEC members during and after Holy Mass was so good for the soul’. We look forward to many more events and gatherings like this, growing together in faith and unity.

Faith fact:

This liturgical year began with Pope Francis petitioning Catholics around the world to pray the Saint Michael the Archangel prayer. Our Archdiocese responded by including the prayer to be recited every Sunday at mass.
